Georgiev started the season with the Rangers out of training camp, but was sent down on Oct. 18. The young goaltender was shelled in his first game of the 2018-19 season against the Carolina Hurricanes. He allowed seven goals on 39 shots in that 5-8 loss and finished that game with an .821 save percentage. So, needless to say, he’s hungry to have a better performance when he next skates into the blue paint.
In Hartford, Georgiev started in back-to-back games for the Wolf Pack. He posted a .905 save percentage in his first 119 minutes of AHL hockey and came out of the weekend with a record of 1-1-0. Mazanec has posted an .859 save percentage through 237:28 minutes of hockey this season in the AHL. He didn’t see any action in the NHL this season after being called up to fill Georgiev’s role as the Rangers’ backup goaltender on Oct. 18.
